Ahhh music, the quintessential element of a good camp.

While everyone enjoys music, not everyone enjoys your music (or mine for that matter). We have to remember that there are a large number of people at camp and as such, we must respect each-other and our musical tastes. Share your music with others and have them share it with you. Who knows, you may discover some amazing band or perhaps a love for Christian-gangsta-disco-grunge-polka!

The Dance

For those who have been in the past, you know we have to cut the dance early because of our neighbours. The reason for this is we’ve got a VERY loud system and the sound travels quite well through the trees. We will rock hard from 7pm to 11pm then we tone it down until midnight. After the dance is over, you’re welcome to hang around on the field but at 1am, we ask that you quietly return to your own campsites.

Requests

Because last year worked so well, the DJ will not be accepting requests during the dance (requests can be made during the day at HQ). He’s been DJing our camp for 11 years and has been a professional DJ for over 15 years. He knows what you want to hear during the dance and believe us, he doesn’t have enough time to play all the songs you want anyhow.

One way for you to hear your favourite tunes over the big system is to bring your CDs or MP3 players to us during the day on Saturday (we have the necessary cabling). We’ll play any song provided it’s tasteful and isn’t prime-time dance music. You can also take a minute and write down your request for the dance.

The DJ will provide us with a song list after the dance to post here on the site because we know everyone wants to know what a certain song was and who it’s by.

Stereos

We allow you to have music playing at your campsite (don’t walk around with a stereo or home-made stereo backpack). Please respect those around you and keep the volume at a reasonable level. We ask that you turn off your music at midnight to allow others some beauty (ha!) sleep. If we have any complaints, we’ll only make one visit to ask you to turn it down – the next visit will find your stereo on the auction block at the closing ceremonies on Sunday morning. No jokes, it’s happened.
